body groomer

In the past, people often viewed men who groomed their body hair as obsessive, narcissistic, or even insane. Nowadays, it’s widely acknowledged that men (and women) have personal preferences regarding the amount of hair on their bodies. Therefore, having the best body groomer has become essential for achieving the desired level of grooming.

“Manscaping.” It’s a fairly-recent name for something many guys have done for a long time – grooming their body hair.

best body groomers - top 8 list
The G+S team were hairless for many months (sorry, not necessarily an enjoyable mental image) while testing these powerful and versatile body groomers.  Whatever your grooming goals, there is something for you on this list. If you need more assistance choosing a product then please contact our team via email or the comment section below and we would be happy to help.

Manscaping has become just as common as piercings for men. As a result, a variety of products have been created specifically for those who want to thin, trim, or remove hair from their chest, legs, back or sensitive areas that would be difficult to groom with a regular razor. When it comes to grooming your body, it’s important to use a high-quality trimmer that’s specifically designed for the task. The sensitive areas of your body require a higher level of precision, so you don’t want to risk sharp, sudden pain. The best way to ensure a comfortable grooming experience is to invest in a top-of-the-line body groomer.

Be Clear about What You Want to Achieve when Body Grooming

Shaving Body Hair for Smooth Skin

The goal of most body groomers is to help you shave your body hair so that your skin is smooth and hairless.

For that reason, the specialized body grooming products listed on this page have both trimming and shaving functions. The shaving function is performed either with a foil shaver (like on an electric shaver/razor) or with a blade.

The foil shaver will typically be “safer” but not as close; manual blades will get closer but you will need to be more careful when shaving near sensitive areas, meaning that you will take longer and perhaps need to give it much more focus. Something else you might want to consider is permanent hair removal – yes, home laser hair removal is quite affordable these days, and just as effective on men, as women. You can read more about it on our best laser hair removal products page. However, we understand if you do not want to take that step.

Just Trimming Body Hair to Stubble

If you prefer to trim your body hair instead of completely shaving it off, you can opt for a body hair trimmer. Our list of the best trimmers (labelled best beard trimmers) includes several options that come with body combs/guards to ensure safe and precise trimming of body hair.

Note 1: The body groomers on this list can all be used as back shavers (number 5, 6 and 7 have specialized extension handles), but you still might need the help of a friend to get to the hard-to-reach places.

Note 2: If you are curious about whether you can just use a regular razor to trim body hair, or whether you can use your newly acquired body groomer to trim and shave your face and head, continue to the bottom of the article where Groom+Style lays bare our thoughts on the matter.

1. Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG7040/42

Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series
Philips Norelco Bodygroom 7100.

The hair on different parts of the body has very different characteristics, so you might think you’d need a different trimmer for each. That’s not the case with the best body groomers, and the Norelco Series 7100 is the best of the best because its design is extremely well thought out – there’s a trimmer on one end and a shaving head on the other.

A lot of consumers consider this the best body groomer because you can groom the groin area effectively and comfortably. The groomer seldom causes irritation to its users. When ‘manscaping’ your private parts, you do not have to worry about nicks and cuts as this shaver has a specially designed fine foil to capture hairs without ever damaging the skin.

The pearl-tipped trimmer on this Norelco unit has five different hair length settings, all the way from 1/8 of an inch up to about ½ an inch, so you can groom everything from long, curly chest hair to the shorter hairs which need careful attention around your groin area, while selecting exactly how long to leave them. And both the blades and combs on the trimmer are rounded to avoid leaving scratches or nicks.

Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100
The trimmer blades and comb – very effective and powerful with no pulling or snagging of hairs.

At the other end of this unit is a 3D pivoting foil shaving head which turns and swivels to follow the shape of the area being groomed, with “pre-trimmers” on each side of the head which ensure a close shave with just one pass. The foil is designed to catch loose hairs easily, the blades are self-sharpening, and the entire groomer is hypoallergenic.

Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100
The brilliantly designed (combined) trimmer and foil shaver head, which is shaped and pivots nicely to get into all those “hard to reach” areas of the body.

All that is required when it comes to maintenance is to run the groomer under a faucet to clean it and to change the foil every year or so (see more on this below).

The Philips BG7040/42 (confusingly know as the series 7000, not 7100) gives you 80 minutes of use with each charge and can be used in the shower without a problem. It has a nice ergonomic design so it’s comfortable to hold – and more importantly, it’s comfortable to use even in those regions you may have been scared to death to approach with anything sharp.

To put it bluntly, this is the perfect trimmer for every part of the body but it’s designed with the delicacy of the pubic area in mind.

Specifications of the Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG7040/42:

  • Dimensions: 3.5 x 7 x 9.5 inches
  • Weight: 8 ounces
  • Length Settings: 5
  • Combs: One, adjustable
  • Wet/Dry: Yes, can be used in the shower
  • Power: Lithium-ion battery, rechargeable
  • Run Time: 80 minutes
  • Warranty: Five years

Note: Philips has some slightly older models, such as the BG2039/42, that has a beard guard (5 length settings), a rubber grip, and titanium blades which are all pretty cool additions – although the charge time is 8 hours as it contains a nickel metal hydride battery. The older BG2040/49 has been replaced by the BG7040/42.

Replacement Philips Norelco Bodygroom Trimmer/Shaver Foil

As with all foil shavers, you will need to replace the shaver heads, to ensure they are cutting effectively. Philips recommends every 6-12 months depending on how often you are grooming. From a practical point of view, that’s when you find the performance of the shaver deteriorating (you have to go over areas a few more times than usual, or the shaver is not cutting as close).

Replacement Philips Norelco Bodygroom Trimmer/Shaver Foils are available at a reasonable price from Amazon.

2. Braun BT3040 Men’s Ultimate Hair Clipper/Beard Trimmer

Series BT3040

Precision, precision, precision. That’s the mantra of men devoted to the perfect trim, and this Braun combination clipper and trimmer set is designed for the ultimate in precision. It’s marketed primarily for use on facial hair, but its trimming and edging capabilities make it ideal for grooming tasks from the top of the head to the bottom of – well, you know where.

The BT3040 comes with two adaptable trimming combs, providing precise length settings from 0.5 to 20 mm when used in conjunction with the “precision dial” that increases cutting lengths in increments of 0.5 mm. In other words, you decide exactly how long your hair should be. You don’t have to defer to the available blade lengths on your clipper. And the very sharp stainless steel blades on this Braun can handle any length or thickness of hair without any tugging or pulling.

When grooming your hair, you’ll probably be as interested in shaping and contouring as you are in clipping. This kit is up to the task, because it includes a Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor that uses what the company calls “flex ball” technology. The head’s five anti-friction blades are able to move much more than those on traditional razors, responding instantly to the contour of the skin and trimming every hair exactly as desired.

At about half the price of the Philips Norelco Bodygroom products, the Braun BT3040 is a terrific value.

Details on the Braun BT3040 Men’s Ultimate Hair Clipper/Beard Trimmer:

  • Dimensions: 8.7 x 6 x 2 inches
  • Weight: 11.5 ounces
  • Length settings: 0.5-20 mm
  • Combs: Two
  • Wet/Dry: No
  • Power: Two NiMH batteries, rechargeable
  • Run time: 60 minutes
  • Warranty: Two years, limited

3. Remington PG525 Lithium Head to Toe Body Groomer

Remington PG525 Head to Toe Lithium Powered Body Groomer Kit
Remington PG525 Body Groomer.

This compact unit, unlike the ones we’ve discussed so far, is more of a true groomer than a combination razor/trimmer. Yes, you can use it to shave body hair, but it isn’t going to clear a forest as cleanly as the Norelco or Braun. What it is going to do is give you a lot of options for exactly how you’d like to trim.

The surgical steel, self-sharpening blades are the backbone of the unit, and what you use to do the shaving. They’ll do a good job cleaning up small areas, although we wouldn’t suggest using this model to replace a razor for full-fledged shaving jobs; where the Remington excels is at trimming.

The foil shaver is only “single foil” and will require a few passes to capture most hairs.

Remington PG525 Lithium Head to Toe Body Groomer
A versatile, and budget-friendly trimmer that gives you lots of trimming options (for those focused more on trimming body hair rather than shaving it – the single foil shaver is not effective on large areas).

There is an eight-length adjustable comb which lets you choose how long you’d like the hairs to be in the area you’re trimming, there are three beard-and-stubble combs if you’re using the PG525 on your face, and there are four additional attachments: a full-sized one for the neckline and sideburns, a foil shaver attachment for closer shaves, a body hair vertical trimmer attachment with three adjustable lengths, and another attachment for nose hair, ear hair and other detailing work. Yes, that’s a lot of switching back and forth, but it lets you choose exactly how you want to “attack” each area. (We’d suggest more caution than a full-fledged attack, the lower you get on your body.)

This unit heads are waterproof so they clean easily under the tap.

It’s a lot of groomer for the price.

A closer look at the Remington PG525 Lithium Heat to Toe Body Groomer:

  • Dimensions: 1.5 x 1 x 6 inches
  • Weight: 8 ounces
  • Length Settings: Dependent on combs; one comb with eight, one comb with three
  • Combs: Four, plus four attachments
  • Wet/Dry: Yes, washable heads (the body is not waterproof)
  • Power: Lithium-ion battery, rechargeable
  • Run Time: 60 minutes
  • Warranty: Two years

4. Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler 3-in-1 Body Groomer

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler 3-in-1 Body Groomer
Gillette Fusion ProGlide.

Here’s another of those “best of both worlds” units, as it also uses Braun’s technology for the trimmer and Gillette’s for the shaver. They each perform pretty well, and this groomer is designed to be used for facial hair as well as body hair – more about that shortly.

3-in-1 refers to shaving, trimming and edging. The head of this unit is similar to a regular ProGlide razor, with four thin “power blades” which do the job well but are best known for their gentle feel, gliding over the skin easily while giving a close shave.

That’s always important for the face, of course, but even more appreciated when shaving the chest, back or armpits; you’ll find the razor head works best on body hair when it’s been moistened first, or even with some gel applied (there’s a ProGlide brand shaving gel intended for the purpose).

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler 3-in-1 Body Groomer
A great trimmer and shaver combination for “detailed work” (if you know what we mean).

A nice feature is the comfort guide that wraps around the side of the blades, removing any excess shaving prep material before the blades do their work.

The trimmer may be the best part of the Fusion 3-in-1. It’s built to be maneuverable along the body’s contour, which is obviously important when working on sensitive areas; there are three different combs you can use with it, each for a different length of hair, and you can trim even closer if you use the trimmer without a comb attached. Finally, there’s a precision edging blade on the back of the unit which lets you clean up the areas that you’ve shaved and trimmed.

There are some significant drawbacks, however. The biggest is that the Gillette Body Groomer is powered by an AA battery which isn’t rechargeable. It should last at least a month before starting to lose juice, but you’ll definitely find yourself needing to stock up on AAs. The other is based on personal preference, but we think this unit is better suited for beard and mustache work, and perhaps trimming the genital area, than it is for large and hairy areas like the back or chest where you might not be comfortable using the razor and the trimmer might be overwhelmed. A more specialized device might be justified.

Compensating for those drawbacks: you get a nice body groomer for your money. There’s not much to argue about there.

Specs for the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler 3-in-1 Body Groomer:

  • Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 3 inches
  • Weight: 11 ounces
  • Length Settings: none
  • Combs: Three
  • Wet/Dry: Yes
  • Power: AA battery, not rechargeable
  • Run Time: n/a
  • Warranty: Information not available

5. Mangroomer Ultimate Pro Back Shaver

MANGROOMER Ultimate Pro Back Shaver
MANGROOMER Ultimate Pro Back Shaver.

We have included this unit for those guys who want to take care of stubborn back hair – it can also be used effectively elsewhere on the body.

The Mangroomer has two attachable shaving heads with stainless steel, hypoallergenic blades and flex necks; one is a wide back trimmer that’s almost two inches long and intended to quickly get rid of large areas of hair, the other is a shorter bi-directional groomer head that’s meant for shorter hair, smaller areas and regular maintenance.

How do you reach all of the hair on your back, you ask? You do it with the patented, hinged handle with a rubber grip, which can bend at any angle necessary (all the way up to 135 degrees) and then lock into place if desired. This handle easily lets you reach the middle and lower back areas without straining, bending or asking someone else for help.

Mangroomer Ultimate Pro Back Shaver
A powerful trimmer and foil (trimmer) combination that can be used all over the body, especially the back.

There are other nice features on the Mangroomer including a power burst button which lets you power through particularly thick or stubborn areas and a quick-charge battery which comes in quite handy if you haven’t quite finished your shave when the charge runs out. But the best feature of this baby is its construction; you’ll spend a long time searching for another back groomer that will actually let you shave all of your back hair without having to become a contortionist. (Yes, you can use it on other areas of your body, too).

Then there are other notable features, such as an innovative trimmer, extendable handle and neck designs, which only makes things easier for you; as if the design alone is not easy enough.

Mangroomer has released a new model called the Mangroomer Lithium Max Back Shaver, which is effectively the same as the Ultimate Pro Back Shaver, but with a more powerful battery for longer life and faster charging.

The ultimate back trimmer that can be used effectively on the rest of the body.

The facts and figures for the Mangroomer Ultimate Pro Back Shaver:

  • Dimensions: 11 x 3 x 2 inches
  • Weight: 1 pound
  • Length Settings: none
  • Heads: Two
  • Wet/Dry: No
  • Power: Lithium-ion battery, rechargeable
  • Run Time: 60+ minutes
  • Warranty: Two years

6. Philips Norelco Bodygroomer BG5025/49

Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 3500 Showerproof Body Trimmer for Men with Back Attachment, BG5025/49

This is a very good alternative to the Mangroomer we’ve just reviewed. It will give you a very attractive body (in terms of hair, that is – no body groomer can do anything about your abs) at a very attractive price. But what makes the BG5025/49 particularly good value is the fact that it has an extra-long handle attachment designed to let you easily reach your back hair.

This Philips Norelco model is a cordless foil shaver with self-sharpening blades and rounded tips which reduce skin irritation, plus a bi-directional shaver head that lets you go back and forth to snag all of those loose hairs. There are three interchangeable, rounded trimmer combs to handle different lengths of hair (3mm, 5mm, and 7mm), the back handle performs just as it’s supposed to, and since this is a water-resistant model, you can comfortably take care of all your excess body hair with or without gel. Shaving in the shower and cleaning the detachable blade cartridge under running water are two benefits the review team for art of shaving really liked.

This Philips Norelco groomer provides a smooth shave when used on your chest, neck and shoulders, under your arms and on your legs, and even when grooming those sensitive areas that need a lighter touch.

The main negative thing the review team found was that you may need to make two or three passes when dealing with thick hair. That’s a small price to pay, though, for an inexpensive body groomer which also lets you shave your back all by yourself. Expect to get about 60 minutes of run time per one-hour charge.

The Bodygroomer BG5025/49 is a great tool for shaving all of your body hair, including that thatch on your back, for an extremely reasonable price.

  • Wet/Dry: Yes
  • Power: Lithium-ion battery, rechargeable

7. BAKblade 2.0 Back Hair Removal And Body Shaver

baKblade 2.0 Back Shavers for Men: The DIY Back Hair Shaver for Men with Safety Blade Technology & Ergonomic Handle, Wet or Dry Shaving (Extra Blades Included)

You already know how Groom+Style feels about the Mangroomer. But if you’re more interested in an inexpensive and easy-to-use tool to shave your back without having to deal with two heads, hinged handles and frequent battery charging – meet the BAKblade 2.0. It’s a manual groomer with a wide blade, designed specifically to let you reach over your shoulder and prune the forest that’s growing on your back.

A lot of thought obviously went into the BAKblade 2.0. The long handle is ergonomically-designed so you can comfortably reach wherever you need to, there’s a safety guard that prevents nicks and cuts, and the patented DryGlide four-inch safety blades (there are three of them protected by a sturdy guard) deliver a smooth wet or dry shave, and won’t rust in the shower.

Bakblade
Note – this is an image of the BAKblade 1.0, the 2.0 has 2 blades for twice the cutting power.  The long, sharp blade is the key to this product. It will cut through forests of hair for a smooth finish (not recommended for sensitive areas).

One interesting design feature of this back groomer is that the blades are flexible, so it can conform to the contours of any back without creating the friction that leads to razor burns and cuts. That flexibility is also why you don’t need to use cream or gel, if you prefer a dry shave. Either way, the BAKblade feels gentle on the back and removes almost any thickness of hair easily without leaving stubble. Just be aware that the blades only last for 4-6 shaves before needing replacement at $10 per set. This can offset the low price of the groomer over time.

The BAKblade 2.0 is perfect for tackling difficult-to-reach back hair if you want a simple and inexpensive answer to a hairy problem.

Specs for the BAKblade 2.0 Back Hair Removal And Body Shaver:

  • Dimensions: 17.7 x 5.9 x 1.6 inches
  • Weight: 3.2 ounces
  • Length settings: None
  • Combs: None
  • Wet/Dry: Yes

8. Philips Norelco BG1026/60 Bodygroom Series 1100

Philips Norelco BG1026/60

Here’s Groom+Style’s budget choice. It’s priced about one-third lower than its big brother, the Bodygroom 3100 that we reviewed earlier – but performs almost as well for manscaping on sensitive skin. The biggest differences are that the Series 1100 groomer doesn’t have a rechargeable battery (it runs on two AA batteries), and it doesn’t come with many bells and whistles like extra combs for very long hair (it comes with just one 3mm comb) or the back attachment. You may need to find an alternative if you are trying to deal with that issue.

There are integrated skin guards to protect against accidental cuts from the blades, which can trim both forward and backward and will cut extremely close, all the way down to 0.5mm. You can use this groomer either wet or dry, although Norelco recommends a dry shave with the Series 1100; this model is small and easy to take on a trip, and it’s simple to clean under the faucet.

Philips Norelco BG1026/60
Solid performance at a reasonable price – maybe if you are not 100% sure if you will stick with this grooming “thing”.

The Philips Norelco BG1026/60 isn’t the most full-featured body groomer the Groom+Style review team has seen. But it will give you a very good trim with no nicks anywhere under the neck (yes, it’s perfect for use “down there”), at a great price.

Looking deeper at the Philips Norelco BG1026/60 Bodygroom Series 1100:

  • Dimensions: 7.9 x 3.9 x 1.6 inches
  • Weight: 5.8 ounces
  • Length settings: None
  • Combs: One
  • Wet/Dry: Yes
  • Power: Two AA batteries
  • Run time: Approximately two months of shaves

Our Budget Range Recommendation

Panasonic Milano Series ER-GB40-S

Panasonic Milano Series ER-GB40-S
Panasonic Milano ER-GB40-S.

No list of “best all-in-one groomer” for body and facial hair is complete without an entry from Panasonic Milano. Keep in mind that this list is focused on groomers that can do a good job of shaving or trimming above and below the neck. The previous entries were excellent at grooming below the neck and do a decent job at above the neck areas. This shaver is the opposite, it does a decent job below the neck, but when it comes to above the neck trimming and shaving, then this product is among the best in the market.

The main emphasis of this item is being a trimmer and it’s an excellent one. The trimmer lacks combs and attachment, but it does not mean it’s lackluster. Just think of it as an excellent trimmer without the hassles of attaching or detaching features. Precision is another unique feature of this trimmer. With this trimmer, you can easily and accurately style or shape your hair or beard. You will also have a good control to your desired hair length.

It could easily be considered one of the best body hair trimmers for men for all but the highest price ranges.

Braun Cruzer 5 Body Shaver

The Braun Cruzer 5 and 6 has been replaced with the Braun BT3040.

Braun BodyGroomer BG5010

Gillette is one of the premier names in shaving, and Braun’s high-quality body grooming Cruzer 5 melds Gillette’s shaver technology with its own expertise in personal care product manufacturing. There are shaving and trimming tools on this unit, but one of the unique concepts Braun brings to the table is that there’s a third mode, in which you can trim and then shave at the same time with one stroke.

The razor has five closely-spaced blades which utilize Gillette’s wet shave Fusion system, designed to shave closely with very little irritation – no matter where on the body you use it. You don’t have to shave wet, naturally, but you’ll find that when you’re working on large body areas like the chest or back it’s the best way to get the job done quickly and effectively.

The trimmer is meant to provide optimal results in sensitive areas. Its teeth are much smaller than you’ll find on most competitive groomers, which often seem to be built more for beards than for body hair. The small teeth ensure there will be less irritation and fewer nicks when trimming the hair in the armpit and groin areas. There are three different trimming combs (0.6mm, 3mm, 8mm) of varying lengths, so you can select how long you want the hair to be when you’re finished (and a travel case is included).

Braun Cruzer 6 Body Shaver
Very effective trimmer and manual shaver option, which you can use together or independently. For those guys (and girls) who like the closeness of a blade.
Best Body Groomer - Braun Cruzer 6 Body Shaver
Use the timmer and fusion blade together (or retract the blade and just use the trimmer).

You can easily switch between shaving and trimming modes with the touch of a finger. But the combination mode of the Cruzer 5 is a welcome change from most groomers, which require you to trim your hair before you can shave it. It’s a real time-saver, and unless you’re grooming areas where you want to take extra-special care (you know the ones we’re talking about) it’s worth the price of admission.

Best Body Groomer - Braun Cruzer 6 Body Shaver
Just use the blade by itself.

You get about 50 minutes of shaving/trimming time per charge with this Braun model, which should be more than enough unless you look like the Beast (as in Beauty and the Beast) or have been an island castaway for a few years.

It is not quite as versatile as the Norelco 7100, but the Groom+Style team like it a lot.

Philips Norelco BG2034 Bodygroom Series 3100 With Back Attachment

best body groomer - Philips Norelco BG2034 Bodygroom Series 3100
Philips Norelco BG2034.

The Philips Norelco BG2034 has been replaced with the Philips Norelco Bodygroomer BG5025/49.

This is a very good alternative to the Mangroomer we’ve just reviewed. It will give you a very attractive body (in terms of hair, that is – no body groomer can do anything about your abs) at a very attractive price. But what makes the Series 3100 a particularly good deal is the fact that it has an extra-long handle attachment designed to let you easily reach your back hair.

This Philips Norelco model is a cordless, hypo-allergenic foil shaver with self-sharpening blades and unusual patented pearl tips which reduce skin irritation. There are three interchangeable, rounded trimmer combs to handle different lengths of hair (3mm, 5mm, and 7mm), the back handle performs just as it’s supposed to, and since this is a wet/dry model, you can comfortably take care of all your excess body hair with or without gel. You can shave in the shower, and cleaning the groomer is a breeze.

Philips Norelco BG2034 Bodygroom Series 3100 With Back Attachment
Not as powerful as the Philips 7100, but cheaper and with the addition of the extension handle so you can take care of your back.

The Bodygroom 3100 provides a smooth shave when used on your chest, neck and shoulders, under your arms and on your legs, and even when grooming those sensitive areas that need a lighter touch.

The one negative thing the review team found was that you may need to make two or three passes when dealing with thick hair. That’s a small price to pay, though, for an inexpensive body groomer which also lets you shave your back all by yourself. As for the battery, expect to get about 50 minutes of run time per eight-hour charge.

The Philips Norelco Bodygroom 3100 is a great way to shave all of your body hair, including that thatch on your back, for an extremely reasonable price.

Most Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t I Just Use My Regular Razor to Shave my Body?

Of course, you can. You can also use a carving knife to trim your body hair, too. Neither is a very good idea, though, because body groomers are designed for areas that aren’t shaved often, not for the face which gets “manhandled” by a regular razor on a daily basis.

Most top body groomers are designed with special features like heads that can pivot to fit the body’s contours, comfort guards or lubrication strips. All make the body shaving process more comfortable than it would be with a normal manual or electric razor. A number of body groomers also have longer or extendable handles so you can reach wherever you need to shave.

There’s one extra consideration which doesn’t require much elaboration, and on which we’d prefer not to elaborate. Would you want to take a razor that’s just shaved your groin or under your arms, and then use it on your face? We wouldn’t, either.

If you do want to buy a product that can be used on multiple parts of the body, then search for a multi-groomer which has multiple heads and guide combs which can be switched out and cleaned such as the Remington PG525.

Can I Use My Body Groomer to Shave My Head?

Another question the Groom+Style team hears is “Can I use a body groomer to shave my head?” We’ll skip the sarcastic reference to carving knives and simply say that it’s possible, but again not the best idea.

Groomer heads are relatively smooth and not built for the contours found on most parts of the body, so the maneuverability found on the best body groomers isn’t what you need for the scalp. An electric head shaver will be more likely to follow the head’s natural shape simply, and some have rounded edges to minimize cuts on the very sensitive scalp. The difference in comfort and shave quality is worth a separate investment.

Conclusion

To obtain a smooth and polished look without discomfort, it’s crucial to select a body groomer that offers precision, power, and ergonomic design. This applies whether you want to thin, trim, or remove hair from your chest, legs, back, or sensitive areas.

When selecting a body groomer, consider features like high-quality blades that are sharp, attachments for various body parts, and an ergonomic design that is easy to hold. By choosing the right body groomer, you can groom with ease and achieve the look you desire.

    • Hi Raj,

Thanks for the question. Based on your requirements I would consider the Remington PG525 Lithium Head to Toe Body Groomer. You will be able to trim and shave nose, beard, head and body hair very effectively for a very reasonable price. The performance of this multi purpose kit will not be as high as specialised trimmers and shavers, but it is the best compromise of functionality and price.

Do let us know if you have any follow up questions.

  4. Hey Pierce,

I have noticed that the Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG7040/42 buying link is currently directing towards a BG7025/13 model on sale on Amazon UK. Would you say that both models are equivalent? And the replacement foil seems to be named BG2000 Norelco Bodygroom Replacement Head, would it be compatible with either of these models?
I have not yet invested on an electric body groomer but just wanting to get all facts before joining the XXI century. Cheers

    • Hi Filipe,

      Thanks for the question.

It can get confusing with the product model numbers between countries. The BG7025/13 in the UK is the equivalent product to the BG7040/42 in the US.

And yes the BG2000 is the correct replacement head for the BG7025/13 (in the UK).

      Hope this helps!

  5. What is the expected battery life of the li-ion battery in the Norelco BG7040? About the same as the warranty? 5 years?

I have the Norelco BG2039 bodygroomer, which looks identical, but I believe it has a ni-cad. The battery no longer holds a charge for more than 10-15 min of use.

  6. Hi there I’m looking for a body trimmer that can trim between 0.5 and 5mm and that can be used corded – it means there is no time constraint. The foil needs to be durable though as both of of the foils my Braun Silk-Epil 5 have broken. Do you have any recommendations?

I think the Braun BT3040 Trimmer might be a great option for you. It will trim between 0.5 and 20mm, and can be used corded or cordless.

      • Thank you kindly for the quick reply Pierce.

I checked out GroomReviews’ video of the BT3040 – apparently its downside is that it nicks the skin? This concerns me as I seek to use this trimmer for delicate bodily areas. The reviewer mentioned a similar corded trimmer, the Philips series 5100, that did not have this problem. Is it an issue you’re aware of and might the Philips be a better option?

These are both beard trimmers though but your article mentioned against using facial shavers for your body and to instead stick with the specially designed body groomers – if you could clarify what to go by that would be most helpful.

I’m eager to hear your opinions

        • Hi Tibs,

All of the points you mentioned are valid when taken in isolation. However, people have different requirements and need to balance these with the products available and these product category limitations etc.

Firstly, any trimmer can nick the skin…some more than others, but pretty much all trimmers (hair, beard and even body trimmers) can snag loose skin. This is particularly pertinent when trimming male parts where the skin is particularly pliable. To avoid unwanted cuts you need to keep skin as tight as possible, to take your time (please don’t perform a rush job before a going on a date) and use a trimmer guard (when your hair length requirement allows).

The body groomer that best minimises potential nicks is the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7000, the trimmer and guard are well designed and shaped for easy handling and accessing hard to reach areas. Also, the shaving foil has rounded tips which allows you to shave delicate areas safely if you want a close finish.

It is also ideal to use a body groomer for shaving the body, and a face shaver for the face and hair clippers for the hair etc. Specific design functions work best on different areas etc. But there are multi-groomers which do everything, face shavers which work well shaving the head, beard trimmers that work well on the body etc.

The Philips series 5100 is a great product and we rank it highly in our beard trimmer review below – and yes it runs while plugged per your initial key requirement. It has guards for head, beard and body. And we have used it successfully to trim male (sensitive) body hair. I am pretty certain it would serve you well.
          https://groomwithstyle.com/art-of-shaving/5-best-beard-trimmers-for-men/

If however, you are flexible on the need for the trimmer to work while plugged in the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7000 is well worth a second look. The lithium ion battery will make sure you can take care of pretty much any trimming job you want, and the shaving foil gives you the option of shaving to a smooth finish.

          Hope this helps.

          Kind Regards,

    • Hi Alex,

      I hope you are well.

Mangroomer’s official recommendation is to replace the body groomer foil every 6 months. However, I think this is a bit of an overkill and as long as you clean the foil after each use (for example -> https://groomwithstyle.com/clean-electric-shaver/) it should last longer (unless you are extremely hairy and are using the mangroomer multiple times a week).

Effectively, you will know you need to replace the foil once it starts to cut ineffectively.

      Kind Regards,
      Pierce

      • Thanks again. 6 months does seem overkill as most men would use it once a month. So after 6 uses to replace it? Again overkill.

  8. Hello Pierce. Hello. I have this trimmer from Remington http://www.remingtonproducts.com/products/mens/clippers-and-trimmers/face-and-body-trimmers/pg6255-wetech-face-and-body-kit.aspx.

I’ve asked 2 questions about the lifespan of this trimmer’s main blade: http://www.remingtonproducts.com/parts-and-accessories/mens/clipper-and-trimmer-parts/face-and-body-trimmer-parts/rp00277-main-32mm-trimmer-head.aspx. Check Question & Answer. I am the user Alex7. The questions are from the oldest to the more recent. I’ve asked: ”How often do I need to replace this trimming head?” I’ve got an answer from customerservice1(probably Remington Customer Service): ”It does vary fom person to person but you should change these anywhere between every 6 months to a year.”

My second question was: ”If I use this once a week how often should I replace it?” I’ve got an anwser from RemConSer(probably Remington Consumer Service): ”About every 8-12 months. If you used it a coupl times then it would need to be changed every 4-6 months.”

This is a ridiculous short lifespan for a trimmer blade. They are made fro stainless steel. They should last for years. Are the people from Remington clueless or are they trying to sell more parts?

  9. Thanks GROOM+STYLE. I bought it in June 2016 and it’s still going strong. One AA battery even lasted me 5 months(from August 2018 till January 2019). Probably because I use it on my armpits and groin area. I’ve used the Philips AA battery that came with the trimmer and which Philips recommended. This trimmer is a gem.

  10. Hello. I have a question about the Philips Norelco Series 1100(the one which runs on an AA battery and is your number 8 choice). How long will the blades last if I use them once a week only on the groin area and the armpits?

    Reply
    • Hi Alex,

Hope all is well, thanks for the question.

The Philips Norelco Series 1100 (BG1026/60) uses an electric trimming head/cutter (2 overlapping cutters move back and forth over each other clipping the hair) rather than a blade – and the trimmer head is not designed to be replaced i.e. there are no replacement trimmer heads.

If you were to use it once a week on the groin and armpits, cleaning it after each use (maybe using a bit of shaver cleaner and lubricator, example product on amazon -> https://geni.us/shaversaver), I would estimate it lasting somewhere into the range of 5 years (this is a very rough guestimation).

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any follow up questions.

      Kind Regards,

    • Hi Nathankumar,

I really do not think you can do better than the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7000/7100.

It is a full body groomer that trims and shaves.

Now when trimming you “package”, no matter what tool you use, you want to be especially careful (I probably don’t need to point this out). So make sure you only shave when you have a bit of time available and don’t rush it. The real problem with shaving men’s bits is all the loose skin which can snag in any trimmer blades. So you want to stretch the skin carefully. The article below goes into this in more detail, so take a read…

        • Hi Ryan,
Yes, Philips seems to have really made a mess of the naming convention on their body groomer series.
The best way thing to do is to focus on the model number (BG…) and forget about the series number (7000 and 7100).

The BG7030/49 or the BG7040/42 (comes with a case and replacement head) are the models to focus on. They have lithium ion batteries and 5 year warranties.

The BG2040’s etc have Nickel Cadmium batteries.

I want to buy the Philips Norelco 7100 Series. I don’t have much body hair so it’s mainly for my pubic area, which I want to trim as clean as possible and shave some parts (shaft, balls). I’d eventually also trim stomach and chest.

However, I’m not sure what the latest version is. You seem to say in the questions that it’s the:
    BG2040 -> https://geni.us/bodygroomer1

but Amazon suggests there’s a newer ones, the
BG7030/49 (same as the BG 7040/42 but without the case and replacement head) -> https://geni.us/philipsbg704042

And I also found a BG 7040/42 (with replacement head and case) -> https://geni.us/philipsbg704042

How would you rate the Philips Norelco Multi Groomer MG5750/49? The RRP is $39.99 vs the MG3750/50’s $20.99, but is the former an improvement compared with the latter, ignoring the 5 extra pieces, longer running time and longer warranty, since both could be used to trim body hair? Some of the Amazon reviews mention both units switching on randomly, something I experienced with the BG2040 after the warranty period. Is this a common issue?

    • Hi Condottiero,

Thanks for the follow-up question. Hopefully, you read our review of the Philips Norelco Multi Groomer MG3750/50 on our beard trimmer page, we consider it a great budget multigroomer option. We have not tested the MG5750/49 but as you have pointed out for a small increase in price you get a slightly more solid trimmer with a longer run time. From what we can tell the warranty for both models is 2 years.

Honestly, it is easy for us to test performance and functionality when we compare different models. Reliability and longevity, however, are harder for us to test as our sample size is very small. The team does use the products for extended periods of time but once again we do not test multiple units. Therefore one of our main gauges of quality and reliability comes from the warranty length, manufacturers name and reputation for customer support, and online reviews. So with that in mind, we have not experienced the MG3750/50 randomly switching itself on, but it is a more budget level model (and is not as solid as some of the more expensive models), and at the end of the day you do get what you pay for.

If reliability was a key factor then I would go for the MG5750/49 over the MG3750/50 (more solid looking body), or once again consider the Philips Norelco Beard & Hair Trimmer Series 5100 – BT5210. More details via https://groomwithstyle.com/art-of-shaving/5-best-beard-trimmers-for-men/

My Philips Norelco BG2040, purchased in 2010/11, is no longer functioning and since price doesn’t always equate with quality, as I learnt with this body groomer, I’m looking for a replacement that’s more for trimming instead of shaving. The BG2040’s shaver always left a stubble on my chest and legs and sometimes horrible nicks, even when being careful, while the trimmer was okay.

Are you familiar with the Wahl Groomsman Pro Rechargeable Grooming Kit #9855-300? It’s in the same price range as the Remington PG525. Aside from the selection of heads and cheap plastic stands, Wahl offers a 5 year limited warranty vs Remington’s 2 year limited warranty.

    • Hi Condottiero,

Thanks for your question on Groom+Style.

From our experience Wahl do make some quality trimmers – we have ranked their 9818 model at the top of our beard trimmer page (the 9818 is more expensive than the 9855).

The major downside of the #9855-300 is that it has a Nickel-Cadmium which means the battery will be less reliable, run for a shorter period, and have a longer charging time than a Lithium-Ion battery.

If you like the Wahl trimmers, then it might be worth spending a touch more and considering ones with a Lithium-Ion battery:

  16. Hello, I am looking for a shaver that can also be a trimmer so I can keep my legs and chest hair as non existent as possible. I am looking at the Philips Wet & Dry All-in-1 Bodygroom Series 7100 but I’ve read reviews and the main concern about this product is the battery. I’ve also looked at the Braun 3010BT Electric Shaver with Precision Trimmer, 1-Count which seems good but some reviews say it’s loud. What do you suggest I choose out of these two, or any other models that aren’t to pricey to help me with my situation?

    Reply
    • Hiya,

      Thanks for the great question.

I really do not think you can go wrong with either of those options – they are both brilliant products. What I find sometimes when I read reviews is that people almost feel obliged to say something negative about the product to make the review look “balanced”…the battery and “noise” issues should not really trouble you, see below:

I think the battery concerns for the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100 are more related to the older model BG2039/42 which has a nickel metal hydride battery. If you focus on the newer model BG2040 which has a Lithium-ion battery you will be fine. Check out our rechargeable battery guide to understand the differences.
      http://groomwithstyle.com/rechargeable-battery-care-cordless-appliance-battery-user-guide/

With the Braun series 3 the loudest reading I could get from it with my decibel reader right next to the shaver was 70dB, which is equivalent to a shower running. The shaver is designed to be used on your face, so even if you have very sensitive ears, if you are going to use it as a body groomer the noise is unlikely to bother you.
You can read more about the braun series 3 in our face shaver review linked below
      http://groomwithstyle.com/art-of-shaving/mens-top-5-best-electric-shaver-list/

Please click this link for the latest price of the Braun 3010BT on Amazon -> http://geni.us/braun3010bt

Note: The decibel reading for the shaver on the Philips BG2040 was about 62dB.

In terms of functionality, they are both wet/dry, will trim and shave and are made by big companies that will stand by their products. The Philips BG2040 is more of a traditional body groomer (trimmer and shaver [single foil with 2 long hair trimmers either side] combined, with no switching of trimming attachments), while the Braun 3010BT is more a face shaver with trimmer attachments (the Braun might shave slightly closer as it has 2 shaving foils which move to contour to your skin, but you will need to fiddle with the trimmer attachments).

Hope this helps, and if you have any follow up questions, please let me know.

      Kind Regards,

    • Hi Kaizad,

The Philips BG2040 is the newer model, and the key advantage is the speedier charge time – it has a Lithium Ion battery, so only takes 1 hour to charge (50 minutes of use).

The Philps BG2039/42 is a slightly older model and has a Nickle metal hydride battery – so it takes 8 hours to charge for 50 minutes of use.
The Philps BG2039/42 does come with a separate beard comb and rubber grip. Both of these additions, however, do not really add significant value and G+S would suggest you focus on the BG2040 due to the faster recharge time.

      Good luck with your choice.

It really depends if you want a trimmer and shaver combo – if that is what you are after then the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100 is brilliant – it is also a great product even if you never use the shaving function, but then you are paying a bit extra for the privilege of having functionality that you don’t use.

But if you only wanted a high-quality trimmer then the Whal and Philips 5100 are amazing options.

In the reasonably priced range, the Remington PG525 Lithium Head to Toe Body Groomer is a great choice – great value and very versatile.

      Hope that helps.

  19. Hi,

I’m looking primarily for a good body trimmer (chest/back). I usually just trim my beard to a ‘shadow’ length because I don’t like a clean shave look. My body hair is quite thick and I trim it every 2 weeks. What trimmer do you recommend that’s better for chest/back hair and allows you to trim your beard.

    Thanks

Thanks for your question on G+S.

If you were just after a trimmer then you could check out our page linked below, and consider the top 2 products, they will work well for beard and body hair trimming.

      1. Wahl 9818 Lithium Ion Plus Stainless Steel Beard Trimmer
      2. Philips Norelco Beard & Hair Trimmer Series 5100 – BT5210

  20. So I’m looking for a device to mainly serve as a trimmer for my chest, groin, and beard (to maintain the beard at around a number 2 or 3 clippers length), but I think it would be unwise to get something that can only work as a trimmer and not shave too. Would the Philips 7100 be it, or should I look for something that is maybe better for trimming the beard and sacrifice the shaving?

    • Hey Barney,

Personally, I (and most of the team) prefer to have a separate face shaving (I assume that is what you are referring to) and body grooming product. The key reason is that I want a very very close, fast and efficient shave on my face (which limits the possible products to the Braun Series 9 or Panasonic Arc 5) – and these products do not have body trimmers etc. Oh, and there is also the hygiene factor, but shavers can be cleaned/sterilized so that is not a deal breaker.

Combination products such as the Philips 7100 do a really great job or trimming and shaving, but the shaving technology is not as focused as a specific face shaver – so they will not shave as fast or close as a face shaver.

      http://groomwithstyle.com/art-of-shaving/mens-top-5-best-electric-shaver-list/

One product that does do a really great job at shaving (and has a trimmer attachment) is the Panasonic Arc3 Electric Razor ES-RT97-S which you can read more about on our head shaver page linked below.

  21. just wanted to leave a note here,
I have purchased the BG2039 as you noted it as a newer model, upon inspection of the manual it appeares the charge time on the BG2039 is 8 hours which unlike the BG2040 is much longer(1 hour on the BG2040).
I’ve contacted philips on the subject, they noted the BG2040 is a newer model and that it’s supposed to be the only main difference between the models

  22. Hi, thank you for all of this amazing guidance and help. I’m a hairy bastard and one issue that I’ve had in the last couple of years has been shaft hair…When I shave/trim it, when you rub your finger against the grain it feels like a 5’oclock shadow and is not enjoyable for my girlfriend.. What do you recommend that can make it baby smooth so I don’t kill my girlfriend with a stubbled piece? I use an electric razor for my face and that feels smooth when I go against the grain but I remembered trying it in the past and it irratated my skin like crazy and wasn’t fun. Thank you and sorry if you already addressed this earlier, I know this is pretty body part specific.

    • Hey James,

Hopefully, we can get to the root of the problem… 🙂

So I think you have touched on all the key components that you will need to balance to solve your problem; initial shaving and potential irritation, the closeness of the shave/trim, and then any potential regrowth. You will need to experiment with a combination of solutions to identify what works best for you.

Option 1 – Do nothing, embrace the hairy shaft. At the end of the day the only way to avoid irritation while shaving, and stubble (after a trim or during regrowth) is not to shave. Or skip to options 5 and 6 below.

Option 2 – Shave with a manual blade. You will be able to get a reasonably smooth finish but need to prep properly etc to avoid irritation and razor bumps. The article below will talk you through the steps – shaving the male appendage requires some patience and practice due to all the loose skin.
      http://groomwithstyle.com/how-to-shave-pubic-hair/

Option 3 – Electric groomer/shaver. Choose one of the products listed above, and trim, and shave away. An electric groomer/shaver will usually ensure less razor burn, and safer shave etc. than a blade, and is easy to use whenever you want.

Option 4 – Wax/epilate. Should be longer lasting than any manual or electric shave, and over time the hair should grow back thinner. But there is the ouch factor! The article below explains the key steps, and ways to minimize pain etc.
      http://groomwithstyle.com/how-brazilian-wax-home/

Option 5 – electrolysis. If you just have a few annoying hairs, then electrolysis might work (time-consuming on really larger areas). There are some at home options which you can try. Electrolysis will permanently kill hair follicles if done right, so although there is an initial commitment in terms of time and potentially money, the hairs will never grow back.
The article below will give you some ideas.
      http://groomwithstyle.com/art-of-shaving/top-4-best-home-electrolysis-machine-reviews/

Options 6 – Laser hair removal. Laser hair removal on the genitals is best done at a clinic to ensure safety. Once again an initial cost in terms of time and money, but you will receive long-term benefits. This article will give you some more ideas – although the at home products we have tested all say that they cannot be used on the genitals – so use the article as a reference if you are interested to find out more, and then book an appointment at a clinic.
      http://groomwithstyle.com/art-of-shaving/5-best-home-hair-removal-laser-devices-reviewed/

      Think that covers everything…good luck!

  23. Hi. I’ve decided to go with the Phillips BodyGroom 7100. Quick question. You referred the newer model bg2039/42 and it appears to be cheaper than the 7100 via Amazon right now. But I can’t tell what the difference is. Will it Work as well as the 7100 for the frank and beans? Or is it more of a body shaver? Thx.

    • Hey Jim,

Thanks for the question… hopefully, the below information clarifies things.

The key differences between the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100 (which is model BG2040) and the Philips Norelco BG2039/42 Philips Multigroom Beard, Stubble and Body Trimmer are that the BG2039 has an additional beard guard (5 length settings), a rubber grip, and titanium blades. So the BG2039 is suitable for a beard as well as the body and has a few upgraded features. The BG2039 has the same sizing and maneuverability designs that make it perfect for use on the Twig and Berries.

    Reply
    • Hi Gail,

Even though the Mangroomer Ultimate Pro Back Shaver was designed specifically to be used on the back there is no reason the device cannot be used effectively all over the body (it comes with 2 attachments oneto trim coarse hair and one foil attachment for a closer shave).

Just for your comparison Mangroomer have also created a specialised body groomer called the “Mangroomer Ultimate Pro BodyGroom” linked here http://amzn.to/2kyAtwC).

The Mangroomer Ultimate Pro BodyGroom gives more flexibility with trimmer lengths etc. whereas the Mangroomer Pro Back Shaver just has the one trimming length.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers for now,

    Good article thankyou.

My current groomer, a Remington from 7 years ago needs replacing.

I shave everything downstairs except the balls which i trim with a setting/foil cover that is just above being fully shave (like a number 1)

    Which one would you suggest?

    Cheers,

    • Hi John,

If you wanted a fully electric shaver you could focus on the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100 – you can shave with the foil and then trim with the other end of the device. Otherwise, if you like the closeness of a manual blade you could look at the Braun Cruzer 6, which comes with a combination of manual blades and then a built in trimmer (which is perfect for sensitive areas). Hope this helps.

The Remington appears to be the closest one, the low price makes me nervous, I don’t want to have to replace it again in 6 months. Thoughts?

    • Hi Dave,

      Thanks for your question.

It appears you want a multigroom tool or All-In-One groomer (maybe more than a specific bodygroomer). With a product that aims to do “everything” you are always going to have trade-offs and maybe some performance compromises. Not 100% clear what your goals or priorities are – but it seems you want to be able to trim first then to be able to shave back, groin, head and beard. In terms of longevity, you do get what you pay for – and GNS would always recommend you purchase the best product your budget allows. From GNS’s experience Remington stand by their warranties, but of course it is always a hassle to have to deal with returns etc.

Products that meet your requirements might be (in GNS’s best order based on what we understand your needs to be):

Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100. Combined trimmer and shaver – safe on groin but can be used on all body areas. Waterproof.
      http://amzn.to/2gsPJwx
      Warranty 2 years

Wahl All-In-One Grooming Kit 9854-600. Trims, details and shaves (foil). It is not water proof, so that might be a deal breaker for you – but powerful high quality product with 5 year warranty.
      http://amzn.to/2fbiY5C

The Philips Norelco Multigroom Series 7100 QG3390. The trimmer and foil shaver attachment…but you get a nose hair trimmer and it is water proof. See link
http://amzn.to/2f7m0od. GNS would stick with the Bodygroom, unless you really see the benefit of all the attachments.
      Warranty 2 years

Remington PG525 Head to Toe Lithium Powered Body Groomer Kit. As we mention in the review it’s a whole lot of product for the price. GNS cannot guarantee that you will not have to call on the warranty. If this is a real concern then stick with one of the products above.

      Warranty 2 years

    • Hi John,

      Thanks for the question.

The key benefit of a specialized body groomer is that it will have the ability to trim longer body hair first and then shave the hair shorter (via a blade or electric head), all in the one unit. I assume you are asking if you can use your facial foil shaver for body grooming. In theory you can use a foil facial shaver to groomer body hair, as long as you have a way of trimming the hair first.

The other factors you might want to consider are:
      – Hygiene, are you happy to use your shaver on your face again after using it on the body (if you are using it on the groin area etc.). If you have a cleaning station or know how to clean your shaver manually that might be fine.
      – Depending on the type of electrical facial foil shaver you have, please consider the load you are placing on it (overheating etc.) and then maybe consider cleaning it as your groom (depending on the size of the area being groomed).
      – Then once again depending on the type of facial foil shaver you have, when shaving the groin, go slow and steady (which I am sure you will) the first time to ensure your shaver does not catch/pull or nick you.

If all else fails you can always revert to shaving or waxing (or buy a specialised groomer or trimmer)…check the links below.

  30. I have used the Gillette Fusion Provide for a year now and while it may have served me very very well for above the neck shaving and trimming it’s not recommended for groin regions. Without the combs, it’s got a sharp feel that mostly leaves your face a little sore and this never gave me the confidence to use it for groin area grooming fearing the worst. Additionally the damn thing broke down in exactly a year so now it’s just used for shaving purposes above the neck. Stocking batteries is no fun either.

    • Hi James,
Sorry to hear the Philips multigroom grooming kit did not meet your expectations. If you want to move away from the Philips brand you could try the Gillette Fusion – as mentioned in the review its designed for facial and body hair. It will not cut facial hair as well as a top of the range face shaver like the Braun Series 9, but it will give you the best of both worlds. Let us know how you get on.

  34. Hi,
I am curious, all the reviews I read about the Norelco BG2040 is that the battery falls apart quickly and the foil top does not hold up. Do you have any experience with these defects? Additionally, I would like to use the trimmer for my body and my beard. Does the BG2040 shave options allow for me to shaving my beard down to stubble?

I am also very drawn to the Panasonic, however, the long charge time concerns me. Any thoughts?

    Reply
    • Hi Behan,
The team at GNS has no experience with these defects you mentioned (which is not to say they do not happen in some cases). That said, the Norelco BG 2040 comes with a 45 day money back guarantee (2 year warranty), which might alleviate any concerns you have with battery life and foil (which should be changed every year anyway). The trimmer works well from 1/8 inch to 1/2inch.
It is important to read the details about charging, as with the BG2040 and TT2040, the charging time depends on the serial number. Serial numbers 1152 and higher have a charging time of 1 hour. Serial numbers 1151 and lower have a charging time of 8 hours. You can find the serial number underneath the shaving head of the unit.
The Panasonic Milano is focused primarily on trimming rather than shaving.
      Good luck with the choice.
      Kind Regards,
      Pierce

    • Hi Milen,
Yes it gets a little complicated as there are different models within a series (in this case series 7000) and different countries get slightly different models etc. But if you focus on the tt2040 (or also called bg2040), and get the biggest number /34 or /32 you can find you will get the latest model available in Bulgaria. Good Luck.
